As we covered electricity bills in yesterdays post, today heating is our subject. As you may or may not know, solar power is not limited to generating electricity. Solar thermal is another form of solar technology that is designed to generate hot water during the day: a resource that many leisure centres and schools use to their advantage already.
Swimming pools in particular will find solar thermal of huge value. Kent College for Girls runs a public access pool, as does Hounsdown School in Hampshire and many others. The solar works not only for the pool itself but also shower systems in the complex too.
Solar thermal is one of the most efficient renewable energy technologies you can install and will also benefit from the Renewable Heat Incentive - a scheme similar to the Feed-in Tariff set up for renewable heating technology, giving healthy returns to those who install.
If you would like to find out more about how solar energy can help your leisure business, you're in luck! Our solar experts will be manning our stand (P230) at Leisure Industry Week from the 18th-20th September.
