Solar Photovoltaic (PV) provides electricity from sunlight. This raw direct current (DC) is converted into alternating current (AC) to use in your home and any unused energy will run straight into the national grid. The Feed-in Tariff pays you a sum for everything you generate. You’ll be using the electricity you generate and therefore saving money on your bills. You’ll also be paid a small sum for the electricity that you are exporting to the grid, in addition to the FIT payments.

Feed-in Tariff
The Feed-in Tariff (FIT) will pay a premium for energy generated by renewable energy systems like solar panels. It is designed to get more of us using renewable energy and encourage low-carbon living.
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a world first, designed to help the UK meet our carbon reduction targets by incentivising renewable heat. The scheme is divided into two parts for domestic and non-domesticinstallations, with the domestic part to launch in spring 2014. In the meantime there is a rebate scheme known as the Renewable Heat Premium Payment that is available for homeowners.
