Local Authorities

Lewes District Council (Leisure Centre)
Lewes, East Sussex - February 2012
The council wanted to look into ways in which it could lower the centre's electricity bills and, thus, save itself some quite serious money.
Solar energy especially appealed to the council, as a system would not only enable them to cut their bills, it would also allow the council to slash its carbon footprint and benefit from the Feed-in Tariff - creating a real investment opportunity. Subsequently, they approached Southern Solar about installing an array on the south-facing roof of the leisure centre.
Islington Climate Change Fund
Islington, London, January 2008 - December 2009
Islington Borough Council awarded Southern Solar the contract to supply and fit solar hot water and solar electric systems under their Climate Change Fund. This scheme provided grants to home owners up to the total cost of the system.
As well as value for money, Islington Council was looking for quality and previous experience in the management of such schemes. It was essential to them that the scheme ran smoothly and the installers actively complied with their customer care and safety policies.
Angmering Community Centre
Angmering, West Sussex - August 2009
Angmering Community Centre is a new development on a modern estate in West Sussex. The Parish Council, together with local residents, planned the building of a new centre, which would provide activity space for individuals and community groups.
The Community Centre Association was awarded charity status therefore, long term financial savings are a top priority. They contacted Southern Solar to assist with securing 100% funding for a solar electric system. Southern Solar worked closely with the surveyor and builder as the project moved through planning.
