Of high profile, The UN Climate Change Summit 2014 commenced earlier this morning at the United Nations Plaza, NY, days after activists turned to the streets dedicating their time and displaying their concerns about the colossal threats of global warming. The day event marks the 1st time world leaders have gathered to discuss the main focusses of climate change and the profound impact it has on our planet since the last conference failure in 2009, Copenhagen. Due to the levels of CO2 emissions over the past few years, over 120 leaders have confirmed their attendance at the event. >> Read More.
Considering that the majority of emissions come from large-scale organisations, it is clear that primarily, they are the ones to target, however the increase of population over the years tells us that global warming is ‘human-induced’ and despite our efforts to turn to renewable energy and garner enough return from recycling, the urgency requires the hands and prudency of all who are resident on the planet. >> Take Action. The UN website provides a checklist for all who can take action and how they can ‘do their bit’ to help reverse current circumstances. Advances in ambition must be made as situations worsen and time, as many people are saying, is of the essence! 100% renewable energy should be on the agenda as we all seek a completely clean economy, with this in mind the Summit is set to endeavour into a well-thought-out list of issue-areas, including Transport, Industrial, Forests, Agriculture, Cities, Resilience, Financing and Energy. It is expected that bold commitments are to be made to ensure the planets increasing temperatures stay within a 2 degrees Celsius restriction – This is an important state of criticality. In 2015, we will oversee an official agreement take place, where a clear vision will be galvanized and signed for to ensure there is a robust plan of action in place that settles many minds all over the world.
The Summit addresses numerous issues and brings out several viable propositions to counter the current gradient of correlation, which is currently on the rise. The big question seems to be the following … What can be done to satisfy the needs and save future generations from potential calamities of which they may endure?
